First Alert Action Day: Heavy snow and sleet through the weekend

Light snowfall has started across many areas in the Heartland, as the beginning of the winter storm makes its way across the region. Snow will fall throughout the day, with the heaviest bands moving through Saturday night-Sunday morning, mainly between the hours of 10 pm and 6 am. Before the heaviest snow moves in, expect very cold temperatures, with highs in the low teens, with wind chills near and below zero. As the heaviest snowfall moves through, so does the sleet. This sleet will cut down on snowfall accumulations, but will also make road conditions very dangerous. Where sleet does not mix into snow, 8-12 inches of snow is expected through Sunday.
