25,000 NES customers without power Monday, more than a week after ice storm

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — More than 25,000 Nashville Electric Services customers are without power Monday morning, more than a week after an ice storm rocked the Midstate.

The winter storm arrived in Middle Tennessee Saturday, with many customers reporting outages as early as Saturday. More than a week later, FOX 17 News, state and city leaders ask NES is they were prepared enough for the storm.

The number of outages did decrease significantly from 230,000 outages at the start of the storm, but the outage impact has prompted questions about if NES was staffed appropriately after the storm.

As of Monday, Feb. 2 at 8 a.m., NES is reporting 25,920 outages. This weekend, NES created a web-based tool where customers can plug in their address to see if line workers are actively working on their power line, or if power has been restored for those who re-located…
