Jackknifed Semi Blocks Lanes on I-24 East Near I-840, Causing Morning Delays

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — (WGNS) A jackknifed tractor-trailer caused significant traffic delays Tuesday morning on Interstate 24 Eastbound in Rutherford County near mile marker 74.4, close to the I-840 interchange. The incident led to the oversized rig blocking the two left lanes of the four-lane eastbound stretch of I-24, between the Smyrna and Murfreesboro City Limits. Both the left and right areas along the shoulders of the road were also obstructed, leaving motorists with limited options to maneuver through the area.

Troopers with the Tennessee Highway Patrol responded alongside Tennessee Department of Transportation emergency crews. A heavy-duty wrecker capable of handling a full-size tractor-trailer was dispatched to assist with recovery operations. After getting the truck maneuvered and facing the right direction, they were able to get it out of the roadway and fully onto the shoulder of the interstate.

Despite the congestion, officials reported no injuries associated with the crash. The cause of the jackknife had not been immediately determined, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol is looking into the incident that remains under investigation…
