Tennessee man convicted after killing a 7-year-old child in Adair County

ADAIR COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Tennessee man could spend the rest of his life in prison after being convicted in a 2024 crash that killed a Kentucky boy.

On Wednesday, Feb. 4, a jury in Adair County found 47-year-old Joel Hammack guilty of murder, along with multiple additional charges, including operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol and several counts of assault.

According to a Kentucky State Police news release, Hammack was under the influence of drugs and alcohol on Dec. 21, 2024, when he crashed his truck into a family vehicle at high speed on the KY 55 Bypass.
