Tennessee Highway Patrol warns of new text scam

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) is warning residents about a new text message-based scam.

THP and the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security said scam text messages are being sent to Tennesseans, claiming the recipient has an outstanding traffic ticket and threatening to revoke their driving privileges if a payment is not made, according to a statement on THP’s social media.
