Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and the Carolinas Face 60–90% Odds of Above-Normal Temperatures Next Week With 60s and 70s Likely

SOUTHEASTERN UNITED STATES — Forecast models are signaling a strong likelihood of above-normal temperatures across Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and the Carolinas next week, with many communities potentially climbing into the 60s and even 70s.

Probability outlook maps show a 70–80% chance of above-average temperatures across much of the central and southern portions of the region. In parts of Arkansas and northern Mississippi, the confidence level climbs even higher, reaching 80–90%.

Strong Warmth Signal Across Multiple States

The most consistent warmth signal stretches from the lower Mississippi Valley through Alabama and Georgia and into both North Carolina and South Carolina.

Tennessee also falls within a high-confidence zone, with much of the state positioned under 70–80% odds of experiencing temperatures above seasonal averages. Northern portions of the region, including parts of Kentucky and West Virginia, still show moderate confidence levels, generally between 60–70%. This broad coverage suggests a dominant mild-air pattern rather than a brief warm spike.

If current trends hold, afternoon highs in the 60s will become common across Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, and the Carolinas. Portions of Mississippi and southern Alabama could even reach into the 70s on several days. While colder air remains positioned farther north, forecast guidance indicates it will struggle to push southward in the short term. For now, the warmer air mass appears set to win out for much of next week.
