Tennessee offers free carbon monoxide detectors after storm-linked deaths

TENNESSEE, USA — Residents across the state can now receive free carbon monoxide detectors for their homes as part of a new statewide safety initiative.

The program, which previously provided smoke alarms at no cost, was expanded following Winter Storm Fern that struck the state at the end of January. The storm left parts of Tennessee without power for weeks, prompting many residents to rely on generators and alternative heating sources.
