RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Two students at separate Rutherford County middle schools were arrested after being accused of making gun-related threats Thursday, authorities said.
According to a detective with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, a student at Rockvale Middle School threatened to bring a gun to school. After law enforcement investigated the allegation, the minor was charged with communicating a threat concerning a school employee or student, which is a felony offense.
Meanwhile, a school resource officer said a Whitworth-Buchanan Middle School student “threatened to shoot up the math class” after other students made fun of him. Another SRO obtained statements as part of his investigation, and he charged the student with felony making threats of mass violence on school property.
