HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. — A bill that aims to codify the state’s role in determining where people can hunt and fish in Tennessee continues to make progress through the General Assembly.
The bill stems from a case out of Sweetwater that is currently headed to a court of appeals in East Tennessee.
Six hunters were cited for discharging a firearm within city limits.
This bill would override municipal code, clarifying that “a city, county, town, municipality, or metropolitan government shall not regulate the manner and means of taking wildlife, including the discharge of a firearm while lawfully hunting.”…
