Rutherford County Growth Continues as Thousands of New Residents Move In

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Rutherford County continues to rank among the fastest-growing counties in Tennessee, with new population estimates showing thousands of new residents relocating to the area over the past year. Local planners and economic development officials say the growth trend has remained steady for more than a decade, fueled by strong job opportunities, proximity to Nashville, and ongoing residential and commercial development across the county.

Communities such as Murfreesboro, Smyrna, and the rapidly expanding Blackman area are seeing some of the largest increases in population. Several large housing developments are either under construction or in the planning stages in these areas, reflecting continued demand for homes in Middle Tennessee.
