RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A lengthy stretch of Interstate 24 was blocked in Rutherford County and Coffee County Wednesday afternoon because of an “emergency situation” involving an armed man “experiencing a crisis,” according to officials.
Just before 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office announced I-24 was shut down in both directions from the Coffee County line to South Church Street in Murfreesboro due to an “emergency situation.” U.S. Highway 41 South was also closed between Epps Mill Road and Big Springs Road as a precaution.
Then, at 2:09 p.m., the sheriff’s office asked residents in the Buchanan community to stay inside their homes during the “ongoing emergency situation,” saying deputies, paramedics, and other first responders were at the scene…
