Rep. Renea Jones: ‘Caring for Caregivers Act’ would help families caring for loved ones with dementia

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Tennessee state Rep. Renea Jones is pushing to provide help to families taking care of loved ones diagnosed with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease with a bill called the “Caring for Caregivers Act.”

The bill would provide additional funding for families who need help covering medical expenses while caring for their loved ones.

“It’s estimated that these caregivers lose approximately $36,000 annually in earned income,” Jones told News Channel 11. “It’s estimated that 386,000 family members and friends serve as an unpaid caregiver.”…
