Online Sting Ends In Decade-Long Prison Sentence For Tennessee Man

A Tennessee man will spend the next ten years in federal prison after a coordinated law enforcement sting thwarted his plans to meet two young children for illegal sexual activity. U.S. District Judge Katherine A. Crytzer handed down the 120-month sentence to 41-year-old Ryan Patrick Garrett on Wednesday in a Knoxville courtroom.

The sentencing marks the conclusion of a case that began on March 13, 2025, when detectives with the Knoxville Police Department (KPD) and agents from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) intercepted Garrett at a pre-arranged meeting spot.
