Riverdale High opens 2,700-square-foot greenhouse for ag students

Riverdale High School in Rutherford County has opened a brand-new 2,700-square-foot greenhouse, giving agriculture students a much larger space for hands-on learning. The school celebrated the project with a ribbon cutting on March 27, 2026.

The new facility, nearly five times larger than the school’s previous greenhouse, was made possible through the 2022 Innovative School Models Grant. It will support year‑round cultivation, advanced projects, and real‑world agricultural training. Planning began in 2018 and was led by current and former agriculture teachers along with Principal Tamera Blair
