Earthquake reported in WNC near Tennessee border

SWAIN COUNTY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) – The United States Geological Survey reported an earthquake in western North Carolina near the Tennessee border on Monday.

Officials said the 1.8-magnitude quake hit at a depth of six kilometers at 3:11 a.m.

The earthquake was reported 5.3 miles north-northwest of Bryson City, North Carolina and 25.4 miles south-southeast of Sevierville, Tennessee, according to officials…
