TN health company to pay more than $2M to resolve allegations a nursing home billed Medicare, TennCare while providing ‘grossly substandard’ care

HOHENWALD, Tenn. (WSMV) – A Middle Tennessee health company has agreed to pay more than $2 million to resolve allegations of one of its nursing homes billing Medicare and TennCare while providing “grossly substandard” care in Tennessee.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Middle District of Tennessee has announced that American Health Companies has agreed to pay $2,090,309 to the U.S. and Tennessee over allegations related to billing from Lewis County Nursing and Rehabilitation between 2019 and 2024.

The Hohenwald nursing home was a 131-bed facility and allegedly billed Medicare and TennCare for “grossly substandard nursing home services.”…
