RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WZTV) — New violations at the Middle Point Landfill are raising fresh concerns for neighbors and community advocates who say the site has a pattern of ongoing compliance problems.
According to Rutherford Forward, the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation’s March 9, 2026 inspection (Inspection No. 116282) identified multiple issues, including unsatisfactory litter control and inadequate soil cover in recently filled areas. Inspectors also noted continued monitoring of leachate conditions, though no discharge into nearby stormwater ditches was observed at the time.
