Early‑Morning Bomb Threat at MPD Temporarily Closed N. Highland

UPDATED: It is important to note that the bomb threat has been deemed a false call at the MPD. Public Information Officer Larry Flowers told WGNS News that the “All Clear” was given after someone called 911 claiming there was a bomb inside the Murfreesboro Police Department early this morning on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. Dispatchers took the call at 3:58 a.m. The call was traced to a nail salon in Columbus, Ohio.

K9 Units from Middle Tennessee State University Police and the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office conducted a sweep of the building inside and outside the 135,600 square feet building, and no explosive device was found.

The investigation continues. Previous news article below.
