Former Shelby County Schools superintendent named to MSCS oversight board

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A former superintendent is making a comeback as the state of Tennessee takes over Memphis Shelby County Schools (MSCS).

Today Governor Lee signed the bill creating an oversight board over MSCS. And the governor made his pick for the members of that board. Under that law, this board must be in place by July 1. It will have nine members, five appointed by the governor, with the remaining four appointed by the lieutenant governor and the house speaker—two each.
