Prison medic arrested after attempting to smuggle drugs into Tennessee facility

TENNESSSEE — A medical technician at a Nashville prison is facing charges after authorities say he tried to bring illegal drugs into the facility.

According to arrest documents, 38-year-old Tamarcus Macon was stopped last week while attempting to pass through a security checkpoint at the Lois M. DeBerry Special Needs Facility along Cockrill Bend Boulevard.

A correctional officer searching Macon’s bag reportedly found 50 buprenorphine 8 mg strips in factory packaging, five sheets of altered paper believed to contain K2 and heroin, and 11 pills with markings consistent with oxycodone or other opioids…
