Horry County man who tried to join ISIS pleads guilty, given prison sentence

CONWAY, S.C. (WBTW) — An Horry County man arrested on terrorism charges as a teenager last year pleaded guilty and has been sentenced, the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office said on Wednesday.

Daniel Fox Fischer, 18, who once attended Conway High School, pleaded guilty in December to conspiring to threaten to cause injury to property or persons by means of an explosive device, the solicitor’s office said. Circuit Court Judge Michael G. Nettles on Tuesday sentenced Fischer to 15 years in prison, suspended for three years in prison, and then five years of probation.

During his supervision after he is released from prison, Fischer must face rigorous monitoring of his communications and online corrections, according to the solicitor’s office. He also must register any electronic devices…
