A microburst is a small but powerful rush of wind that drops out of a thunderstorm, hits the ground and spreads out in different directions. Microbursts can cause extensive damage and, in some cases, can be life-threatening.
WHAT HAPPENED IN HORRY COUNTY
A microburst was reported in Horry County on Saturday, leading to downed trees and minor damage around Longs. Additional strong to severe thunderstorms lead to minor damage near Surfside Beach and Murrells Inlet on Saturday and around Dillon, Latta, Florence and Lumberton on Sunday.
