Fireworks banned on beaches in Horry County; violations may bring fines or jail time

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — As Horry County prepares for a special Fourth of July weekend, police and fire officials say they are increasing staffing to handle larger crowds and to respond quickly to problems tied to fireworks.

Officials warned that while fireworks are a popular way to celebrate, they can also lead to violations and safety risks.
