MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – We’re giving you the FIRST ALERT to an EXTREME HEAT WARNING issued today ahead of another hot and steamy Wednesday forecast. Temperatures will climb through the end of the work week with fewer storms in the forecast.
Wednesday
An EXTREME HEAT WARNING is out for Horry, Georgetown and Williamsburg Counties today. With climbing temperatures and building humidity, the warning comes as the heat index is expected to reach 110 or higher in these locations.
Meanwhile, a HEAT ADVISORY remains in effect for the rest of our area today with a heat index of 105 to 110.
Temperatures will reach the mid to upper 90s today, with fewer storms in the forecast for any relief. While isolated storms are in the forecast, the rest of the workweek looks drier in this morning’s latest data. We’ll keep a 20% chance of a storm or two today.
Rest of the week
Thursday and Friday are forecast to be warmer than today, with temperatures climbing into the mid 90s for the beaches. In the Pee Dee, we’ll climb into the upper 90s. The heat index will only continue to reach 105 to 110 each afternoon with the minimal chance of afternoon storms.
Heat advisories or even warnings will likely continue through the end of the work week.
This weekend
Saturday will be our warmest day of the weekend with temperatures in the mid to upper 90s and a heat index near 110.
