MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Dangerous heat and humidity have prompted an EXTREME HEAT WARNING for today. That said, Monday and Tuesday could be the hottest days of the year.
TODAY
Plenty of sunshine will give way to high heat and humidity. Inland areas will reach the upper 90s today, with a couple of spots making a run for 100°. Along the beaches, temperatures will reach the lower 90s.
Factor in the humidity, and the heat index will push past 110° in most locations INCLUDED in the Extreme Heat Warning. Those not in the Extreme Heat Warning still find themselves in a Heat Advisory today with heat index values reaching 105-110°.
What you need to do: Limit strenuous outdoor activities between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. Ensure children, seniors, and pets have frequent breaks in the AC and plenty of water. If you must work outside, take frequent breaks in the shade.
As far as storms go today, don’t expect much. An isolated storm or two is possible, but most of us stay dry today…
