HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — Horry County Schools leaders are starting the new school year with a push to expand learning opportunities for students, including a new focus area in math, while also responding to parent concerns about school bus service.
The Horry County school board met for the first time this school year as students began their second week back in class. Superintendent Clifford Jones said the district will continue building on its “Rise With Reading” initiative, with changes families may notice in classrooms.
“We’re going to be doing handwriting every day. We’re going to be reading novels, and we’re going to be using less technology. Those things are really important for people in the public to understand,” Jones said…
