HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A shooting early Thursday morning at a Horry County Wendy’s stemmed from a dispute over a DoorDash order that the workers did not have time to prepare before the restaurant closed, according to an employee.
No injuries were reported in the incident, which occurred just after 2 a.m. at a Wendy’s off Kings Road. The police report lists offenses of aggravated assault with an anti-Black or African American bias, as well as destruction, damage or vandalism to property.
Dontarious Dockery said his brother was one of three employees working at the time, and told him the driver grew angry, shouted a racial slur at employees, and fired a handgun through a sign next to the drive-thru intercom. The bullet traveled through the sign and struck an industrial freezer located behind it.
