MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – We’re giving you the First Alert to another day of high heat and humidity with another heat advisory issued for today. Storm chances increase as we head into Saturday to kick off Labor Day weekend.
TODAY
Expect another muggy start as you are heading out the door this morning. Temperatures will start off in the mid-to-upper 70s with plenty of sunshine. Some areas of patchy fog remain possible for your morning commute.
Highs today will climb to near 90 for the beaches and into the upper 90s inland. Factor in the humidity, and our feels-like temperature will climb to 105-110° this afternoon.
Stay on top of your hydration through the day and take breaks from the outdoors if you have a prolonged stretch of time outside.
SATURDAY
The heat does not let up through the day on Saturday with temperatures actually trending warmer in the latest data.
Highs will reach the lower 90s for the Grand Strand with the upper 90s inland. The heat index once again will reach 105-110° with plenty of sunshine through the afternoon.
Clusters of storms will develop to the north and northwest later in the afternoon and into the early evening hours. While our forecast will remain dry through the early afternoon, we’ll need to keep an eye on radar for those clusters as they move south through the evening hours.
Our heat and humidity will provide plenty of fuel needed for these storms to not only sustain themselves to the beaches, but for a couple of them to reach the strong side.
Any storm that moves into the area tomorrow afternoon and through the evening will have the potential to be strong or even severe, but it’s not guaranteed that everyone gets a storm tomorrow. Our biggest threats look to be dangerous and frequent lightning, strong gusty winds, an isolated hail threat, and heavy downpours. We remain under a LEVEL 2 risk for severe weather on Saturday.
