HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) – A former New York City homicide detective who responded to the Sept. 11 attacks, solved many cases, and later continued serving the Grand Strand is being remembered as a devoted family man, dependable friend, and “larger than life” presence.
57-year-old Denis Broderick died at about 2:45 a.m. Sunday at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center from injuries he suffered in a motorcycle crash, according to the Horry County Coroner’s Office.
The crash happened at about 6:25 p.m. Saturday on Highway 707 and Longwood Drive in the Burgess area. Broderick’s 2021 Harley-Davidson was traveling south on Highway 707 when it struck a curb and ejected him, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol…
