MYRTLE BEACH — Guy Fieri’s first visit to Myrtle Beach was for fun, but this trip was all business — for the most part.
The celebrity chef and restaurateur appeared Sept. 10 for the ceremonial grand opening on his latest culinary endeavor — Downtown Flavortown at the Myrtle Beach Mall. Hundreds came to see the Mayor of Flavortown cut the ribbon on his 50,000-square-foot arcade and restaurant.
“My grandparents lived in Morehead City (N.C.) and we used to come down the coast when I was a kid and have a blast,” Fieri recalled. “So when (FACE Amusement CEO and Downtown Flavortown partner Bucky Mabe) said let’s put one in Myrtle Beach, I was excited to do it.
