SURFSIDE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – People honor the firefighters and others who lost their lives on 9/11 at the 3rd annual stair climb at the Surfside Beach Pier on Friday.
More than 165 people honored the 343 firefighters who died and others who lost their lives on 9/11 by climbing 26 times up and down the stairs. The 2200 steps represented the 110 flights of stairs the New York City Fire Department crew members climbed hoping to help during the attack.
There were moments of silence at the times when the planes crashed into the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and suburban Pennsylvania…
