A Myrtle Beach area campground’s decision to prohibit a camper from flying a flag supporting law enforcement on Sept. 11 has created an outcry on social media and forced the business to reverse its policy.
After a camper at Lakewood Camping Resort flew a Thin Blue Line flag, security at the resort issued a warning for the camper to remove the flag, citing “that management has ruled that Blue Line flags/support flags are no longer permitted.”
The flag, a black and white American flag with a blue stripe symbolizes support for law enforcement and the role of police, has been a controversial emblem associated with social movements.
