Publix, a popular grocery chain with several locations around the Myrtle Beach area, is set to open a new store just across the state line into North Carolina next month.
The new Publix Super Market at Commons at Carolina Shores is scheduled to open to shoppers on Oct. 28 at 7 a.m. Located roughly a mile from Horry County, the new store at 9770 Ocean Highway W. is the latest in a flurry of development in the Carolina Shores area of Brunswick County.
The plaza is already home to a CVS, with plans to incorporate dining chains like Firehouse Subs, McDonald’s, Eggs Up Grill and Dunkin’. Locally owned River Oaks Pizzeria, which has two Myrtle Beach-area locations, is slated to open a new location at Carolina Shores, and Cutty’s Pizza in Little River plans to relocate to the plaza.
Just up the road, a new Walmart Superstore was slated to open on Oct. 7 before the timeline was pushed back. Plans for gas station Wawa, which commands a cult following in the Northeast, and Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers restaurant are also in the works for the area…
