Isaias could bring isolated tornadoes, severe weather to Myrtle Beach area

Parts of Horry County are at risk for severe weather and tornadoes this weekend as Hurricane Isaias brings tropical moisture to the area.

Although Isaias is tracking well west of the Carolinas, outer bands of the system are expected to reach across the Southeast. The National Weather Service in Wilmington, North Carolina, warned of a marginal risk (1 out of 5) for a few severe storms, including tornadoes, late Saturday into Sunday mainly along the coast but possibly extending inland toward Conway.

Along the coast, NWS is predicting 4 to 6 inches of rainfall throughout the weekend, with the heaviest rains late Saturday through Sunday morning. Inland areas in Horry County could see 3 to 4 inches…
