Locals brought supplies to Myrtle Beach family stranded in Mooresburg during blizzard

When Aaron and Toshanna Fisher decided it was time for a vacation, quite by accident they found an Airbnb in Mooresburg on Cherokee Lake at the end of Jim Town Road.

Packing up the family, they headed out from their Myrtle Beach home and arrived on Saturday, Jan. 13 in the early morning hours.

They didn’t know a huge snow storm was coming, and very soon their vacation would turn into survival mode as they found themselves snowed-in and unable to leave.

When the road became impassible the Fishers began to run low on food and supplies, including medicine.

That’s when the community came together with two men risking their lives in dangerous frozen conditions.

Mooresburg by accident

Toshanna Fisher was looking for an Airbnb for a vacation. She thought she was booking in North Carolina and by mistake booked in Mooresburg.

Still, it was an appealing home and they decided to keep the reservation. Having no idea about the upcoming weather conditions, the family was originally happy to see snow.
