Inaugural Oysters & Arts Festival supports Myrtle Beach museum, downtown

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — The first-of-its-kind Oysters & Art Festival is supporting local artists, the Myrtle Beach Art Museum and downtown businesses.

The museum will be a part of the Arts and Innovation District’s redevelopment plan and officials hope the inaugural festival will help enhance the downtown area.

“[We want to] make downtown a wonderful place to come visit, have fun and support the local businesses,” said William Miller, the museum’s institutional programming coordinator.

Everyone will have the opportunity to do just that on Saturday by attending the first-ever festival, an event celebrating the downtown and recent revitalization efforts.

“If you come down there, you will start to see things are definitely changing,” Miller said.

The future holds another big change, too.

“The art museum is looking forward to the future with hopefully some big grand new museum down there, but that’s years in the future,” he said.

In the meantime, the new festival will be a traditional oyster roast but with an art spin.
