First Responder Friday: Knicoby Burgess

FLORENCE, S.C. (WBTW) — It’s time for another edition of News13’s First Responder Friday, a segment recognizing a first responder from the Grand Strand or Pee Dee.

This week’s nominee is Cpl. Knicoby Burgess with the Florence Police Department, who was born and raised in the city. He has been with the department for eight years.

Buress has worked as a patrol officer during those eight years, with most of his time spent in his current position on the department’s Community Action Team.

Colleagues say he is a huge asset to the department, which is demonstrated through his ability to build relationships with city residents and keep open communication between officers and the community. Whether he’s working on calls for service or at community meetings, Burgess uses the time to make the bond between the community and the department stronger.

In his time away from work, Burgess coaches baseball, basketball and football in the city’s youth leagues, further showing his commitment to community interaction and relationships.
