Carolina Country Music Festival plans tribute to former headliner Toby Keith

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — The Carolina Country Music Festival is planning a tribute for hitmaker Toby Keith, who died on Tuesday from stomach cancer.

“We are heartbroken to hear the news of Toby Keith’s passing. There are no words to describe how much he will be missed. He will always be a part of our family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends,” organizers said on the festival’s Facebook page hours after the 62-year-old’s death was announced.

“We’re going to honor this All-American in the best way we know how. Our U. S. of A. Day will now be a tribute to Toby. Stay tuned for all the details,” organizers said.

Officials said the event’s “U.S. of A” day will be made into a Keith tribute. His “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue” topped the Billboard Country Music charts when it was released in May 2002.

Keith headlined the Carolina Country Music Festival on June 8, 2018.
