North Myrtle Beach man faces domestic violence charge after urging victim to ‘call the law,’ police say

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — A local man is facing an aggravated assault charge after police say he struck a woman in the back of her head with an unknown object, causing heavy bleeding.

Ricky David Tatum, 64, was on Saturday just before 11 p.m. at a home along North Ocean Boulevard, according to a police report.

When officers arrived at the home, a woman answered, wrapped in a blanket and holding a towel to her head. Police said they saw a “large amount of blood” on the living room floor when they got inside.

Authorities said Tatum and the woman got in an argument that escalated when they returned home. He reportedly threw an object that struck her in the head and refused to help her once she realized she was bleeding.
