2 men shoot at, sideswipe cars along Highway 701 in Horry County, report says; 1 hurt

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — One person was hospitalized with a gunshot wound Wednesday after two men hung out of their window and fired shots along Highway 701, according to a police report obtained by News13.

Horry County police responded to the Loris area at about 4 p.m. for a shots fired call, the report said. When they arrived, they were told someone was shot and taken to the hospital. Their condition was not immediately available.

A man told police he was driving along Highway 701 when a grey car sideswiped his vehicle, according to the report. The man said he saw two vehicles traveling south on Highway 701 and two men hanging out the windows of one of the vehicles and shooting at the other.

Another man said his driver’s side was hit with a bullet from the two men as they continued along Highway 701, the report said. A third person told police they were driving south on Highway 701 from Blacks Tire when a vehicle sideswiped their driver’s side.

There were no suspects or arrests listed in the report. No other information was immediately available.
