Longs man charged in Friday night crash that killed Loris High School student

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A Longs man has been charged in the death of 17-year-old Loris High School student Sean Herd after both were involved in a fiery wreck along Highway 9 in Horry County on Friday night, authorities said.

South Carolina Highway Patrol Master Trooper William Bennett told News13 Sunday that 36-year-old Seth Harris Rosen is facing one county of felony DUI resulting in death. Rosen collided head-on with Sean Herd just before 11 p.m. Friday near Farrell Road.

Herd was traveling back from a band camp event at the time, Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard said.

Both vehicles ignited in the crash. Rosen was treated for undisclosed injuries. He’s currently being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center after a judge denied bond on Saturday, officials said.

Herd was named to Horry County Schools’ All-County Band in November, according to a Loris High School Band Facebook post.
