LIVE BLOG: Georgetown included in tornado warning

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — Following here for updates as the Grand Strand and Pee Dee begin to feel the effects of Tropical Storm Debby.

9:40 A.M. TUESDAY

Santee Cooper has restored service to all but about 150 customers in the Myrtle Beach area after an earlier outage that affected more than 2,100 customers.

9:20 A.M. TUESDAY

A tornado warning has been issued that includes Georgetown, Hemingway and Plantersville. according to the National Weather Service. It will remain in effect until 9:45 a.m.

9:05 A.M. TUESDAY

Santee Cooper is reporting that more than 2,100 customers are without power, with multiple outages reported in the Myrtle Beach area. The largest outage is in the Cherry Grove area of North Myrtle Beach. Across South Carolina, more than 16,000 customers of various utilities are without power.

8:40 A.M. TUESDAY

Horry Electric has restored service to nearly all of its customers that were affected by multiple outages Tuesday morning.

8:35: A.M. TUESDAY

Georgetown County government has increased its alert status to OPCON 1, the highest level of readiness as Tropical Storm Debby draws closer. OPCON 1 means that a disaster or emergency is imminent or occurring. The county’s Emergency Operations Center is now fully activated.
