Heat and humidity build this weekend

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) – Happy Labor Day weekend everyone! The unofficial end of summer, is going to feel like the middle of summer. Hot and humid conditions will be present today through the Labor Weekend. Changes will be coming though.

We will see lots of sunshine today across the region. Temperatures will surge into the 90s area wide. The areas right along the coast may stay in the upper 80s, but a majority of us will see highs in the 90s today. There is a very low (less than 20%) chance of an isolated shower or storm moving into the area. The heat and humidity will have heat index values pressing the the triple digits. Today will be a nice day to find the ocean, pool, and some body of water to stay cool.

Sunday will be a lot like Saturday. We will see another day with highs in the low to mid 90s. In fact some locations may be a degree or two hotter on Sunday, compared to Saturday, as air starts to compress ahead of a cold front moving into the area. As we move into Monday, a cold front will be moving into the area. This will present widespread showers and thunderstorms to the area. Some of these storms could produce some heavy rain, gusty winds, and lightning. As we get into Monday evening, the storms could linger across the coastal communities, otherwise our area should stay mostly cloudy with lows in the 70s.
