‘Bigger and better than before’: Beach ‘n Chili Fest returns to Grand Strand for 4th year

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — The Beach n’ Chili Fest is returning to Myrtle Beach in September, with organizers saying it will be “bigger and better than before.”

“This year’s Beach n’ Chili Fest will offer more entertainment and activities, more competitors, and, of course, more flavorful chili,” said Mike McCloud, a festival organizer and president of the International Chili Society.

The Sept. 27-29 event at Burroughs & Chapin Pavilion Place will have one new feature between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. each day when attendees can get a free ‘happy hour’ chili dog, while supplies last.

The main event will be the World Championship Chili Cook-off competition, featuring 300 professional chili teams competing for a $75,000 purse. They will also have the chance to compete for the People’s Choice award, voted on by festival attendees.

There will be other competitions throughout the weekend that benefit the Grand Strand community, including a Community Chili Challenge with a prize of $2,500 for charity.
