Former Henrico Police employee arrested for allegedly trying to meet minor for sex

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A former Henrico County Police Division employee was arrested in South Carolina after Horry County authorities say he tried to meet a minor for sex via a social media app.

First reported by WBTW in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, 55-year-old Daniel James Busang was arrested after investigators with the Horry County Sheriff’s Office received a tip about activity on the app Kik. Busang is accused of using this app to try to meet a minor for sex.

Busang was charged with three counts of criminal exploitation of a minor.

The Henrico County Police Division confirmed that Busang was employed by the department for 15 years — starting in 1996 and ending in 2011, when he resigned. The police spokesperson did not specify what Busang’s role was at the division during his tenure.

According to WBTW, the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office will prosecute this case.
