Man accused of leading Horry County police on 130 mph+ chase, causing crash that led to passenger’s spinal fracture

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Horry County police have charged a North Carolina man who evaded a traffic stop at more than 130 mph before crashing, causing the passenger in his vehicle to suffer a spinal fracture, according to records obtained by News13.

Zachary Dasacher Green, 26, of Tabor City, was charged with failure to stop for a blue light resulting in great bodily injury and resisting arrest.

An officer on Aug. 22 tried conducting a traffic stop on Green’s vehicle in the Loris area for running a stop sign, according to a police report. The officer turned on their lights and siren on N. Highway 701, about a half-mile south of Morgan Road.

Green failed to stop and made a U-turn in a gas station parking lot before going back north on Highway 701, the report said. Green turned right on Morgan Road and continued evading police, reaching speeds of more than 130 mph.

Just before crossing the North Carolina line, Green lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a ditch, the report said. Green briefly tried to flee into nearby woods before he was caught.
