North Myrtle Beach animal rescue buys 10+ acre property in Longs

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — An animal rescue in North Myrtle Beach just started a multi-million-dollar project in order to hold more animals.

Kind Keeper is a nonprofit organization with the mission to save the lives of homeless pets. It recently purchased a 10-plus acre property on Water Tower Road in Longs, just six miles from their location.

“We’ll be able to hold at least three-times the amount that we have total, that’s including our foster animals,” event coordinator Britney Hauser said. “So, it’s not just who’s in here right now.”

Hauser said they’ve been operating out of their current facility since 2015, which holds up to 50 animals.

“It used to be an old military barrack, so it’s on its last leg,” she said. “And we’re raising money to move to our new property.”

Hauser said they currently have 10 large kennels and two “whelping” rooms, specifically for moms and their puppies. She said it’s time to expand because once they reach capacity, they can’t allow any more animals in until the ones they have are fostered or adopted.
