Mix of sun and clouds with mild temperatures ahead of Election Day

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — Today will have a mix of sun and clouds. Temperatures start to warm up as a more easterly flow develops off the Atlantic. This also increases moisture and could spread a few showers into our coastal communities late Monday night, into early Tuesday morning. Highs today will reach the mid-70s.

Tuesday through Friday continues to be abnormally warm. On Election Day, we will see partly sunny skies. The polls open at 7 a.m. and temperatures will be in the low-60s, peaking during the afternoon in the mid-70s, and when polls close at 7 p.m. it will be in the upper-60s. It is more humid this week so take some water if you are voting during the midafternoon.

There will be a chance of some scattered showers on Wednesday and Thursday especially overnight and early Thursday morning. We dry out Friday and into the weekend.

We continue to watch the tropics. Potential Tropical Cyclone 18 should reach tropical depression or tropical storm status by today.

Rafael is the next name on the list. The system will move northwest and could be a Category 1 hurricane as it crosses western Cuba and enters the Gulf of Mexico.
