Kelly Stafford is bringing the 1960s back to Surfside Beach.
Stafford, along with her husband, Travis, have opened up The Tie-Dyed Coffee Bean , 700 U.S. 17 Business, an eclectic coffee shop with a boho, hippie vibe.
Stafford has worked to give the shop a retro look, with posters of ā60s iconic images such as VW Beetles and bands, including The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix.
Cozy spots, including a sofa covered in bright, retro flowers, and multi-colored chairs and tables, have been set up around the shop.
Stafford said she has wanted to open a coffee shop since first moving to the Lowcountry eight years ago, telling herself and others, āIām going to own me a hippie coffee shop at the beach,ā she said.
She moved from the upper part of South Carolina, but was inspired by the laid-back coffee shops in the Charleston area, where she lived previously.
