MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — A charity concert will be held Saturday in honor and memory of the late Mica Miller, who died by suicide in late April.
The Mica’s Benefit Concert, hosted by WayMakers, starts at 11 a.m. and lasts until 6 p.m. at Grand Park in The Market Common. The event will feature bands, a kids zone, raffle giveaways, vendors, food trucks and local business sponsors.
Controversy has swirled around her husband John-Paul Miller and Solid Rock Ministries since Mica was found dead in late April at the Lumber River State Park in Robeson County. Her death was eventually ruled a suicide, but the case sparked nationwide interest because of allegations that she was abused by John-Paul before her death.
Law buried in South Carolina Legislature might have saved Mica Miller, attorney says
Regina Ward, the attorney for Mica’s family, says the “Coercive Control Bill” could help victims who are stalked, harassed and controlled by their abuser. She said it goes far beyond what you can see on the outside of someone who’s being abused mentally, emotionally and financially.
